A legal document on a mobile phone: what the client shouldn't know...

I bet that as you read this text, a mobile phone is lying somewhere next to you. You're probably even reading this text on your phone… This is the best proof that in today's times, mobility is a given. Through mobile phones, we buy public transport tickets, check what's playing at the cinema, listen to music, discreetly ask our kids if they've done their homework, identify ourselves at the office, or make a transfer. The premise is that it should be simple and convenient.

But why are we writing about it on our blog? Because it should be the same in arbitration!

Our Court has its own dedicated mobile app. Thanks to it, you remain updated with everything happening in your cases. When the opponent submits a response to the claim, presents evidence, or a decision is made – you can receive an SMS. You open the app and the first thing you see is new material!

Is a small keyboard a problem?

If you like typing on the small keyboard of your phone or are in a hurry, in the Ultima Ratio mobile app you can write and justify a claim, respond to a claim, and present a procedural position. The function is very convenient, although if you are a lawyer representing a client – it's better not to tell them about this...

The creator of new procedural content is very intuitive. Just like on social networking sites, we simply enter our position in the “Start” field, and the system does the rest for us – prepares the entry on the case profile and drafts a “real” procedural document.

Click evidence

If you want to add a photo, video, or audio recording to the entry – just click the camera or microphone icon under the “Start” field. You can supplement any missing details or present an additional document this way. All it takes is to snap a photo with your mobile.

And now the best part: if during the case you want to prove, for example, that the item purchased has defects, you can film the faulty item with your mobile and show everything to the arbitrator! The video will go onto the case profile and will be visible to all participants in the proceedings. And your opponent? They are unlikely to claim that there are no defects when everything is visible “in black and white”. You can add your commentary or another person's statement to the video. You can also go to the seller's premises and film a defect-free counterpart for comparison.

What do you think? We await your comments!
